Pickleball tournament trips to Vietnam
Short answer: Vietnam has a full competitive calendar. PPA Tour Asia has staged events in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City since 2025, Da Nang hosted the Pickleball World Cup in August–September 2026, and the Vietnam Pickleball Federation was founded in July 2026. For a competitive club, the trip is built around court standard, a draw that fits the courts held, and matches against strong local players.
Written for sports travel companies, clubs, academies and teams for whom pickleball is the main purpose of the trip. For holiday groups that play as part of a tour, see Pickleball group travel in Vietnam.

Definition
A pickleball tournament trip is a group journey in which competition is the main purpose: a club, academy or team travels to play a structured event — its own private tournament, matches against local clubs, or a professional event with open divisions — and builds the rest of the itinerary around the playing days.
It differs from a holiday club trip in three ways: the group plays every playing day for longer, court standard matters more than location, and the schedule is set by the draw rather than by the sightseeing.
Competitive groups increasingly come from within the region. Clubs from the Philippines and Indonesia are a short flight away and can build a trip around a long weekend of matches; clubs from North America and Australia combine competition with a longer tour.
Four formats, and what each needs
| Format | What it is | What it needs on the ground |
|---|---|---|
| Private tournament | The group’s own event: pools, knockout, awards | Exclusive court block, draw and scoring, awards evening |
| Local club matches | Team matches or mixers against Vietnamese clubs | A partner club at the right level, agreed format, interpreter |
| Pro event trip | Travel timed to a PPA Tour Asia stop: watch, and play open or amateur divisions where offered | Hotel near the venue, entries through the organiser, practice courts |
| Training camp | Coached sessions over several days | Coaches, fixed court hours, recovery time in the schedule |
Most competitive groups combine two of these — for example, two days of coached play, a match against a local club, then a private tournament on the last playing day.
The competitive calendar in Vietnam
| Event | City and venue | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| PPA Tour Asia — MB Vietnam Open | Ho Chi Minh City | September 2025 |
| PPA Tour Asia — MB Vietnam Cup | Da Nang, Tien Son Sports Arena | 30 September–4 October 2025 |
| PPA Tour Asia — MB Hanoi Cup | Hanoi, My Dinh Indoor Athletics Arena | 1–5 April 2026 |
| PPA Tour Asia — MB Ho Chi Minh City Open | Ho Chi Minh City, The Global City | 6–9 August 2026 |
| Pickleball World Cup | Da Nang, Tien Son and Tuyen Son sports complexes | 30 August–6 September 2026 |
The 2026 World Cup in Da Nang drew close to 5,000 players from more than 80 countries. Vietnam stops for 2027 had not been announced when this page was updated; event pages confirm whether open or amateur divisions are offered and how entries work.
Venues by court count
For competition, the first filter is court count against draw size, the second is cover and lighting. Counts are as published by the venue or reported in national media, checked October 2026.
| City | Venue | Courts | Competition notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hanoi | Cau Giay Cultural & Sports Centre | 25 | Hosts national team championships; seating for large events |
| Hanoi | Dai Kim Pickleball Complex | 9 | Lit courts; has hosted organised tournaments |
| Da Nang | Furama Pickleball Club | 14 | Built to an international standard; indoor and outdoor courts |
| Da Nang | FPT Pickleball & Coffee Club | 8 | Covered, acrylic surface, lighting, spectator seating on four sides |
| Ho Chi Minh City | GoPick Sports Complex, Thu Duc | 12 | One of the largest dedicated venues in the city |
Hanoi’s venue map changes quickly: a 22-court complex opened in March 2026 and was demolished in April for land-use violations. Dong DMC checks the venue itself, not a listing, before a group is confirmed.
Sizing a private tournament to the courts
A round robin of n doubles teams needs n × (n – 1) ÷ 2 matches. A game to 11 takes about 15–20 minutes, so each court plays three to four matches an hour.
| Players | Teams | Pool format | Pool matches | On 8 courts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 32 | 16 | 4 pools of 4 | 24 | About 1 hour, plus 1 hour of knockouts |
| 48 | 24 | 6 pools of 4 | 36 | About 1.5 hours, plus knockouts |
| 64 | 32 | 8 pools of 4 | 48 | About 2 hours, plus knockouts — better on 12 or more courts |
Planning estimates for doubles, games to 11. Divisions by level or age multiply the number of pools but not the total matches per team.
The practical limit is heat, not courts. Competitive sessions start early and finals are scheduled before midday or under cover. Court capacity for social sessions is covered in How many pickleball courts does a group need?
What the DMC runs on the day
- Exclusive court block for the event hours, including warm-up courts
- Draw, schedule and scoring: pools, seeding by level, a live results sheet the group can follow
- Officiating: self-called pool play, with referees for medal matches where the venue or local organisers can provide them
- Equipment: tournament balls of the right type for the surface, nets checked to height, scoreboards
- Local opponents: a partner club at a matching level, with the format agreed in advance
- Medical and hydration: water, ice, shade and a first-aid point courtside
- Transfers timed to the draw, not to a fixed itinerary
- Awards: medals, photography and an awards dinner on the final evening
The touring days still matter. Competitive groups usually add two or three days of culture and food — Hoi An after Da Nang, or Halong Bay after Hanoi — once the competition is over.
Frequently asked questions
Can a club organise its own pickleball tournament in Vietnam?
Yes. A private tournament runs on a court block held exclusively for the group, with the draw, scoring and awards arranged locally. Eight courts handle a 32-player doubles event in a morning.
Where are the main pickleball venues in Vietnam?
Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Published examples include the 25-court Cau Giay Cultural & Sports Centre in Hanoi, the 14-court Furama Pickleball Club and the covered FPT Pickleball & Coffee Club in Da Nang, and the 12-court GoPick Sports Complex in Ho Chi Minh City.
Does Vietnam host professional pickleball events?
Yes. PPA Tour Asia has held events in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City since 2025, and Da Nang hosted the Pickleball World Cup from 30 August to 6 September 2026.
Can a visiting team play against Vietnamese clubs?
Yes. Matches against local clubs can be arranged at an agreed level and format, subject to the club’s schedule.
When is the best time for a pickleball tournament trip?
March to April suits both Hanoi and Da Nang. Outside that window, choose covered venues and early starts.
